A Buck for the Boy! (non-horse)

You don't raise heroes, you raise sons. And if you treat them like sons, they'll turn out to be heroes, even if it's just in your own eyes. ~Walter M. Schirra, Sr.

Pennsylvania welcomed in the opening day of Deer Season on Monday. Buck season to be specific. This time of the year sends usually normal men into a crazed frenzy of orange, gun toting, story telling boys. It is actually quite comical to watch this transformation happen.

My husband had the pleasure of taking our 12 year old daughter Morgan out hunting for the first time on Monday, while our 15 year old son, Zared, was nearby. Jeff and I had talked the night before about how opening day would go with Morgan. We were convinced that she would be chattering to him the whole time, complaining about cold and hunger. Well, according to Morgan, Jeff was talking way more than her. I could believe that. He was just excited, like a little boy.

Zared on the other hand, is the more serious of the three children. More like me, but thankfully still knows how to be a kid. He was waiting for deer to come strolling through. He saw one off in the distance, and called it in closer. He took his shot....

We're so proud!
